The concept

There are pictures of the wedding and pictures of the new house. There is almost nothing of the eleven hours in between, when a place stops being yours and has not yet become somewhere you used to live. This photographer shoots that day and only that day — **one roll, thirty-six frames, black and white.** The clip is a woman in black on an empty highway with the town out of focus behind her, and the last shot is the road with nobody on it. That is the brief exactly. The sharpest line on the page is a refusal: *"I won't pose you at the door with the keys. You will hate it in nine years."*

Typeface: DM Serif Display 400/italic — high contrast, tight fit, and unfussy. It carries the hour markers as well as the headline, which is why the timeline reads as a document rather than a feature list. Figtree 300/400/600 for body: a plain modern sans that stays out of the way.
Cursor — The develop: - The develop and the exposure (above). - Frame cursor. A thin rectangle in the aspect of a 35mm frame that shrinks to 0.52 and drops a centre dot when it reaches a subject — framing and metering. - The road canvas. Twenty-two long horizontal rules, each a gradient that fades at both ends, drifting laterally at their own speeds in three depth bands. Nothing else in the library is built from long horizontal lines, and on an empty-highway page it reads as distance.
