The concept

*Amplitude* is the degrees a balance wheel swings through — the one number on a timegrapher that tells you whether a movement is actually healthy. The house is built on what that number keeps proving: most watches sent for service did not need it. The five-year interval is a marketing figure. It was never derived from wear data, and every unnecessary service removes material from parts made once, in a quantity that will never be made again. So the position is a refusal that costs money: *"Two thirds of the watches sent to us are returned unopened, with the report."* The closing figure makes it concrete — £80 charged against a £600 service that would have made the watch measurably worse.

Typeface: Zilla Slab 500/600 — a contemporary slab serif with blunt, machined slabs. At 196px it reads like something stamped into a caseback, and it is the only slab in the library. **Mulish 300/400/600** for body: a rounded neutral sans that stays quiet under the tabular figures, which are the actual content of the page.
Cursor — The beat: - The beat and the escapement (above). - Balance-wheel cursor. A ring with a ruby bar across it that flips ±32° on every tick — it swings rather than glides, and it keeps swinging when the pointer is still. - Oscillation canvas. Three quantised waveforms, phase-stepped per beat and amplitude-shaped by cos(k×0.5) so each trace tapers like a real swing. Redrawn only on the tick, which also makes it far cheaper than a per-frame field.
